Introducing MCP Servers
Remote MCP Server Connectivity allows you to seamlessly connect third-party MCP servers to your Vendia workspace using the Vendia MCP Gateway. The MCP Gateway allows you to integrate both pre-configured and custom external MCP servers directly into your Vendia workspace. Once connected, these servers become instantly available to your AI applications—no additional setup required.
Key Features
Simplify connecting to remote MCP servers and managing tool configurations across your teams in a unified, secure, and governed manner. Your AI application only needs to connect to one MCP gateway instead of multiple individual server configurations.
This approach democratizes AI agentic workflows in the enterprise by enabling IT and development teams to quickly build, test, and deploy AI-based workflows in a secure and governed manner. A unified MCP gateway architecture addresses security risk and server sprawl within the organization.
Pre-Configured Integrations
Vendia provides pre-configured, ready-to-use connections for popular MCP servers to simplify setup.
Custom MCP Server Support
In addition to pre-configured integrations, you can connect any custom MCP server by providing its URL and authentication details.
Seamless Authentication
The MCP Gateway handles authentication for external MCP servers. Depending on the server’s requirements, you may use:
- OAuth 2.0 Auto-configure - The server automatically registers this connection
- OAuth 2.0 (Use app credentials) - Use OAuth credentials provided by your administrator
- None / Headers - No authentication or use custom headers for API keys
Learn more about authentication options in the Authentication guide.
Tool Configuration
The Vendia MCP Gateway provides the ability to control what tools are available from a given server for agentic use.
Observability
Vendia MCP Gateway provides tracing and read receipts for tool calls made to external MCP servers. This enables you to trace issues related to specific MCP tools and isolate failures at the MCP server, gateway, or AI application level.
How It Works
- Navigate to MCP Gateway: In your Vendia workspace, go to Connected Data → MCP Servers
- Select an MCP Server: Choose from pre-configured servers or add a custom server
- Configure Authentication: Complete the authentication flow for the selected server
- Select Tools: Choose which tools from the MCP server to enable
- Access from AI Applications: Your AI application can now access tools from both Vendia and the connected external MCP servers
When your AI application connects to your Vendia MCP Gateway, it automatically gains access to the tools you’ve selected from all connected external MCP servers.
Benefits
Centralized Management
Manage all your external MCP server connections in one place through the Vendia console. Add, remove, or reconfigure connections without changing your AI application’s configuration.
Extended Capabilities
Combine Vendia’s Storage Connections and API Catalogs with external MCP servers to create AI workflows spanning multiple systems and data sources.
Consistent Authentication
Handle authentication for all external MCP servers through Vendia’s OAuth flow, providing a consistent security model across all integrations.
Prerequisites
Before connecting external MCP servers, ensure you have:
- A Vendia account (Free Tier or Enterprise Tier)
- Access to your Vendia workspace
- An AI application configured to connect to your Vendia MCP Gateway (see Getting Started)
- An account with the external service you want to connect (Notion, Atlassian, Sentry, Neon, Fireflies, etc.)
- OAuth credentials or API keys for the service you want to connect
Free Tier Limits
- Maximum External MCP Servers: Up to 2 external MCP server connections
- MCP Calls: Up to 100,000 MCP calls per month (shared across all resources)
- Concurrent Requests: Maximum of 2 concurrent requests
